The women's march all started over a piece of bread. There was not only a shortage on bread, but the cost was extremely high. When hearing a rumor that the royal family had all of the bread, 7000 women decided to march towards Versailles. They carried cannons and guns, planning to kill anyone who got in their way. The royal family was alerted of their coming, but King Louis didn't want to leave. When the women arrived, they demanded bread and for the royal family to leave the palace. To calm the crowd, Louis took his wife and kids and went to live his family in the Tuileries Palace.
